Jonathan Summerton
Jonathan Summerton is in his second season driving for A1 TEAM USA Holdings. He drove with distinction in his first season with A1 TEAM USA Holdings in 2006-07, finishing second in the Feature race at Mexico City to become the youngest driver, at 18, to stand on an A1GP World Cup of Motorsport podium.
Summerton began the season driving in the two all-rookie practices and was elevated to the team's primary driver for the final four races of the season. He also was fifth in the Sprint races at Mexico City and Shanghai, sixth in the Feature at Brands Hatch and ninth in the Sprint at Brands Hatch. Suimmerton scored 18 of A1 TEAM USA's Holdings 42 points.
Summerton has been impressive from the time he started driving at age 14 in karting. He moved into cars the next year, winning a Skip Barber Racing Series regional race at Morosso, Fla.
At age 16, Summerton became the youngest winner of a race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway when he won the Formula BMW race during the USGP weekend. He also has a victory at Daytona International Speedway, in the Skip Barber Regional Series.
Summerton followed with a victory in the Formula 3 Euroseries at Hockenheim in 2006. He finiished ninth in the championship.

2007-08: Began season in third event, scoring team's first point with 10th in Feature at Malaysia. Also was 10th in Feature at Zhuhai.
2006-07: Finished second in Feature at Mexico City in second race weekend with team; raced in four events, scoring points with fifths at Mexico City and Shanghai in the Sprint and sixth in the Feature at Brands Hatch. Made debut with A1 TEAM USA in rookie practices at Zandvoort and drove in three more events as rookie before being elevated to primary driver.

2007: Hired by Volkswagen to be primary development driver for new Formula 3 engine project. Drove development engine in F3 Euroseries events at Nurburgring, Barcelona and Nogaro, with best finish of 12th at Nogaro.
2006: Competed in Formula 3 Euroseries, winning at Hockenheim in final race of the season. Also finished second at Le Mans, third at Norisring, fourth at Lausitzring and was ninth in championship. Had highest average in qualifying among rookies, with 95 percent in the top six.
2005: Competed in European Formula BMW Series, with a best finish of second at Spa and was 10th in the championship.
2004: Won Formula BMW race during USGP weekend to become youngest winner in history at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Drove full schedule after winning Formula BMW USA scholarship at Valencia, Spain, and also won twice at Cleveland, finished first and fifth at Montreal, second twice at Laguna Seca, second at Road America and fourth at Indianapolis. Finished third in championship. Also won Skip Barber Regional race at Daytona.
2003: First full season in karting, competed in Rotax Junior. Finished first in Florida Winter Tour Rotax Junior, first in North Florida Rotax Max Challenge Junior, third in Texas National Rotax Max Challenge Junior, third in Easykart 125 International Class. In July, attended first car driving school (Derek Daly Academy in Las Vegas). Won Skip Barber Regional at Morosso, Fla., for first victory in a car.
2002: Getting a relatively late start in karting at age 14, Jonathan Summerton began his career in September at Ocala Gran Prix in Florida and won several local races.
